Sunday night’s Oscars ceremony could be remembered for those things.
日曜夜のアカデミー賞授賞式は、それらのことで記憶されるかもしれない。

そうであると期待したい。
But, most of all, it will be remembered for the almost unbelievable moment when Will Smith strode onto the stage, slapped Chris Rock in the face, and bellowed,

Yes, that actually happened.

If you weren’t watching the ceremony, you might assume that the reports had been exaggerated, or that the whole thing had been set up in advance.
式典を見ていない人は、報道が大げさ、あるいは事前に仕組まれたヤラセだと思うかもしれない。
Even if you were watching, Smith’s fury was so shocking that it was difficult to process.
見ていた側にとってもスミスの怒りはあまりに衝撃的で、理解が追いつかないほどだった。
But it’s true.

Rock was on stage to present the documentary prize, he made a mean joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s short hair – which is a result of alopecia
ロックは、ドキュメンタリー賞のプレゼンターとして登壇した際、ジェイダ・ピンケット・スミスの短髪（脱毛症によるもの）について意地悪なジョークを飛ばした、
alopecia「脱毛（症）」。
- reminding him of Demi Moore’s shaven head in GI Jane – and suddenly Smith reminded us all of his Muhammad Ali biopic.
それが彼には「GIジェーン」のデミ・ムーアの坊主頭を思い出させたようだが、突然、スミスは我々にモハメド・アリの伝記映画のことを思い出させた。

何があっても暴力を振るった方が悪い、というのはもちろんそうでしょうが、妻の名誉のために立ち上がった点については、ちょっとウィル・スミスの肩を持ちたくなってしまいました。
そして「ドライブ・マイ・カー」の国際長編映画賞受賞、これは明るいニュースでしたね！
