But though the Cullinan diamonds are renowned across the globe for their size and transparency, these characteristics are no accident.

They are “Clippir” diamonds – members of a special category of the very largest and clearest examples ever found.

5月のチャールズ3世の戴冠式では、キャサリン妃が豪華なティアラの着用を控えるかも、という記事がありました。
今はそうした富や権力を誇示する装身具を見たい時ではないだろう、というイギリスの国民感情に配慮した考えとのことで、物価高騰や庶民の生活苦は世界的な規模で進んでいる印象を受けました。
日本の皇室も諸問題で揺れていますが、こうした「生まれながらの特権階級」といった存在は、ノブレス・オブリージュの精神を失えば、その存在意義も失ってしまうものかもしれません。
日本からは誰が戴冠式に行くのか、その判断は皇室の未来にとって非常に重要なものになるような気がします。
理由は単純明快！「少ないコストでしっかり楽しく学べるから」。
